[Sunriver] – President/Owner of The Adobe Resort Ed Pfannmuller was named “Restaurateur of the Year” at the Oregon Restaurant Association/Oregon Lodging Association Annual Industry Awards of Distinction Gala in Sunriver. The ceremony emphasized the important role hospitality businesses play as a cornerstone of the economy, career opportunities, and their communities.
A 29-year veteran of the restaurant and food industry, Ed Pfannmuller comes from family that was in the poultry business in Eugene, Oregon. In 1977, he and his father sold the business and purchased the Adobe Motel. Since that day, Ed and his wife, Karen, have built the business into one of the Oregon Coast’s premiere establishments, and continue to grow the business every year.
Born a Canadian, Ed received his USA Citizenship in October, 1995.
In 1985, Pfannmuller was chosen as “Man of the Year” for the Yachats Chamber of Commerce. He was President of the Central Oregon Coast Chamber of Commerce in 1989 and has served on the Yachats Planning Commission and the Yachats Budget Committee.
Ed was on the Oregon Restaurant Association Board of Directors from 1995 – 2005, serving an unprecedented two terms as Board Chair. His strong leadership raised the bar for support of advocacy and the industry’s presence at the state capitol. He currently serves as Chairman of Oregon Restaurant Association Member Services, helping to shape programs that save business owners time and money.
The “Restaurateur of the Year” designation is awarded to a restaurateur who has made noteworthy contributions to the Association, is considered an exceptional and successful operator, and who’s business ethics are above reproach.
